Just the two of us....

This makes me laugh.... Wes and I don't do "selfies", but as we were laying in the hammock one afternoon, we gave it our best try.  This is the only one that made the cut after about 12 tries.  We couldn't stop laughing!

Scuba Diving....

At our resort, the majority of the water activities were included in the all inclusive package.  That included sailing (on a real sail boat), paddle board, catamaran cruise, snorkeling, and scuba diving.  I can't say I've ever given scuba diving much thought, but when we were planning out our days, it only seemed logical that we give it a try.  After going through a 2 hour training course that included practice in a pool, we were headed out into the ocean.  To say I was nervous as I jumped into the water with all the gear on is an understatement.  Our biggest fear was getting water in our masks and having to remove it... a skill we both had a tough time with during the pool practice.  No worries, water never entered our masks and as we swam 40 feet at the bottom of the ocean examining sea life, our nerves quickly relaxed.
We came face to face with a nurse shark under a ledge on the ocean floor, saw a rare sea horse and fish that were all colors of the rainbow.  It was amazing, but we were also glad to get the signal that it was time to ascend up to the boat.  Not sure if scuba is our thing, but so glad it's something we can say we did.

Our paradise in Jamaica

A much needed VACATION

We had put this vacation off long enough.  For our 10th anniversary we determined we wanted to go to Jamaica.  That trip still sounded like a good idea on our 11th anniversary and finally by our 12th anniversary we at least had something booked.  Last week we spent 6 amazing days, just the two of us, enjoying a little r&r.  It was time to relax, rejuvenate as an individual and it was a great thing for our marriage.  Sometimes we get caught up in the controlled chaos of our everyday life and we fail to stop and enjoy each other and remember why it is that we said "I do".

Family trip

There is a major difference between a trip and a vacation:

Trip - travel to a distant location, with kids.
Vacation - travel to a distant location, without kids.

The difference is significant.  With our crew, we don't travel far without help.  As the kids get older, they are so much more independent, but it's nice to have reinforcements around when mama and daddy are worn out.  Truth is, we'd could do this trip on our own, but Mimi (and Popo) loves to travel.  This was our family trip for the year and we chose an easy cruise out of Galveston to see how the kids would like it.  Jason and Bruce made the trip too and you know you will always have a good time with those two around.  Blessed to have the opportunities to do these trip with family.  Truly a blessing.....

More in Cozumel

Swimming with dolphins worked up an appetite.  We enjoyed lunch and drinks by the lagoon and worked up energy to enjoy a few of the other water activities at Dolphinius.  The kids experienced their 1st taste of snorkeling.  They weren't so sure about it at first, but wound up begging to go back in a 2nd time.  They had a small roped off area that was perfect for 1st time snorkelers.  It had large sting rays and a variety of bright colored fish.  When A&A went back into snorkel a second time, Popo and Caleb gave kayaking a try and Wes and I opted for  paddle boarding.
Before getting back on the boat, we shopped around in Cozumel.  It's much more commercialized... I enjoyed the products in Progresso a lot more.  After a brief downpour, we got back on the boat for another day at sea.
