Happy 6th Birthday Caleb!

Guest blog by dad and Caleb...

We are very pround of our little kindergartener!  He keeps us smiling with his constant conversation and sharp, but weird memory!
Friday started out with omlets for breakfast and was followed up with McDonald's happy meals for lunch.  Next was the classroom party that included some Brenham Cub cupcakes made by Mimi!  After school Jase and Ethan came to the house for a sleepover.  We all played kickball, football, jumped on the trampoline, and then headed to Las Fuentes for dinner!  These boys had a big time!  Their late night movie choice was Ernest Goes to Camp!  Saturday's activities included more playing and some fishing!  Satruday's finale was a skating party at Silver Wings!

A Miserable Winter

We live in Texas, Central Texas, where we are accustomed to blistering heat, scorching sun and 100 degree temps for days on end.  We expect the weather to warm up after Christmas.  Our closets are stocked with flip flops, tank tops and light weight clothing. We do not like winter, especially a truly cold winter and this winter has been especially brutal.  I know, I know it is nothing compared to what states see up north, but the key is we don't like cold, aren't prepared for ice and snow, and that is why we live in Texas.  This year we've had more days of freezing temps than I can remember and it's caused for late school starts and a full ice day... even though we didn't have much ice.  We Texans freak out about the possibility of ice on roads.
I might add these cold temps make it miserable on the softball field.
I'm hoping things turn around real soon..... bring on the sunshine and sun tan.

Our artist

Austin continues to amaze us with his artistic ability.  Once again his picture was chosen to be judged for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.  He got a 2nd place ribbon and we couldn't be more proud.

Super Bowl Sunday - Go Broncos!

This year's Super Bowl brought a little more excitement than it has in years past because we have a huge Denver Bronco/Peyton Manning fan in our house.  Caleb has been routing on the Broncos all season long and he and Wes have been paying attention to Manning's performances due to him being a key player on Wes's fantasty football team.  Side note... Wes won the league this year!
For Super Bowl, we stayed at the house and kept it low key because we actually wanted to watch the game and commercials.

The game did not play out in Broncos favor.  In fact they got run over by the Seattle Seahawks.  At one point right before half time, Caleb was no where to be found.  We found him laying down in his bed, covers over his head.  He was upset his Broncos were losing.  He got over it pretty quickly and will be cheering on  the Broncos next year.

Wes in his rally helmet.  We were trying anything!

12 Years!

The saying "Time flies when your having fun" isn't just a saying... it's the truth.  Wes and I said "I do" 12 years ago but it's seems like we should still be counting the years on one hand.  It's been a great ride so far.  Some days it feels like we're on a smoothe Sunday drive through the country side, easy and effortless.  Other days it's more of a roller coaster... up and down with twist and turns.  Whatever the ride, there's no one I'd rather be sitting next to.

For our Anniversary this year, Wes and I escaped for the afternoon and headed to Top Golf to enjoy a little down time and dust off our golf swings.  I say that, but Wes is the only one that had to dust his off.  I on the other hand had to see what it felt like to swing a golf club.  I haven't ever truly played and it's been probably 10 years since I've been to a driving range.
